Easy Homemade Apple Crisp Recipe: Warm, Sweet, and Perfectly Spiced Dessert

This easy and delicious homemade apple crisp is perfect for a cold fall day; made with a warm, spiced crumble topping and juicy apples. Perfect for fall or any dessert craving, this simple recipe is sure to become a family favorite!

It has become a fall dessert staple in our house every year! It is also great for freezing for later in the year! You can find all the recipe details below!

Easy Homemade Apple Crisp Recipe

Recipe for a 9X9 pan

Ingredients

Apple Mixture:

  • 5 cups of apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water

Topping:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions

  • peel core and thinly slice apples, place them in a bowl
  • to the bowl add cinnamon, sugar, and flour; mix together
  • once mixed place apple mixture in a 9×9 pan and drizzle with 1/4 cup of water
  • In a separate bowl combine the topping ingredients: oats, flour, brown sugar baking soda, baking powder, and melted butter – mix until small crumbles form
  • sprinkle over apples
  • bake at 350° for 1 hour or until topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly

Notes

For freezing make recipe as directed except for the baking step. When you are ready to bake, preheat oven to 350° and bake the first 20 minutes covered with aluminum foil and then remove and bake the remaining time until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly. Do not thaw prior to baking.
