There’s something about savoring the taste of freshly made salsa, with the vibrant flavors of ripe tomatoes, zesty jalapeños, and aromatic cilantro. Making your own garden salsa is not only a delicious experience but also a rewarding one. With this easy-to-follow recipe, you’ll be on your way to creating a mouthwatering salsa that will become a favorite among family and friends
Ingredients:
4 large ripe tomatoes, roughly chopped
1 small red onion, roughly chopped
1 jalapeño pepper, seeds removed and roughly chopped (adjust to your preferred level of spiciness)
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 cloves garlic, minced
Juice of 1 lime
1 teaspoon ground cumin
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Gather Fresh Ingredients: gather the ingredients from your garden or local farmers’ market. A grocery store will work too! Ripe tomatoes, jalapeño, a small red onion, fresh cilantro leaves, and garlic will form the foundation of your garden-fresh salsa.
Prepare the Vegetables: Roughly chop the tomatoes, red onion, and jalapeño pepper (seeds removed for a milder salsa). Add the chopped vegetables to a food processor or blender.
Fresh Cilantro and Garlic: Add half a cup of chopped fresh cilantro and the minced garlic to the food processor or blender.
Add Lime: Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mixture.
Season with Ground Cumin, Salt, and Pepper: Sprinkle a teaspoon of ground cumin, along with salt and pepper to taste, into the food processor or blender.
Pulse to Your Preferred Consistency: Pulse or blend the ingredients until you achieve your desired salsa consistency. For a smoother texture, blend for a longer time; for a chunkier salsa, pulse briefly. This step allows you to customize the salsa’s texture to your liking.
Taste and Adjust: Adjust the seasonings as needed. Add more lime juice, salt, or pepper to suit your taste preferences.
Let Chill: Transfer the freshly made garden salsa to a bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
